Been experimenting with combining corn and was curious if anyone's tried using steep pitched helical bars. Ive heard they can really move material fast, but i'm wondering if that speed ends up causing more rotor loss . Do most people run them just on the threshing side, or do you put them on both the threshing and separating sections?

You'd want to install the helicals on the threshing side which will help you boost trouhoutput with no compromise on separation. The best course of action is to operate at moderate speeds, something like 200 rpm or a bit more and monitor the losses after installation. You should see some improvements if you set everything right.
